Alcea has been called to achieve a deeper sense of meaning through art, which lead her to pursue a career in tattooing. She grew up in the high desert of New Mexico, and has been established in Eugene for the last 10 years. Much of her inspiration comes from vintage lithography, botany, human anatomy, oddities, mythological folklore, baroque era imagery, mysticism, nostalgia and poetry.

Alcea has found a deeper meaning in tattooing by connecting to her clients and helping them feel more at home in their own bodies. She values being a good listener and providing a space where her guests feel safe to advocate for themselves. We asked Alcea what her favorite tattoo was on her body, it’s the one on her right hand, she feels like it brings cohesion to the rest of her body art and expresses her personality in a beautiful visual way. “And that is what I always aspire to do for others,” Alcea said, “tattooing can be a way to help people integrate into themselves, and that can be powerful.”

Getting a tattoo can be scary, it does involve so much vulnerability and surrender, but Alcea is a master at calming people’s nerves and helping them relax into the process. We often hear Alcea chatting it up with her clients talking about music, hearing about their life events, or talking about relationship dynamics. “I just love, love. I love hearing about everyone’s different experiences with it.”

In her spare time she can often by found crafting art with dried botanicals and insects. She loves up-cycling new dresses from scraps, going to concerts, thrifting, traveling or playing in the outdoors with her loved ones.
